ESSAY WRITING
Now that you have selected your topics and formulated a tentative thesis, you must write the rough draft of your essay.
Use this basic essay outline to help with structure:
a) INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH:
●States Topic in an introductory sentence.
●Introduces main ideas in a sentence for each
●States thesis, or point of view, in a concluding sentence.
b) BODY PARAGRAPHS:
3 separate paragraphs, each of which discusses one of the sub- topics or supporting points for the thesis in the following format:
●States sub-topic in an introductory sentence
●Provides facts to prove its relevance to the thesis
●Sums up its relevance to the thesis in a concluding sentence
c) CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH:
●Restates thesis
●Sums up main ideas
●Concludes with a sentence which clearly brings the discussion to a close.
